A large part of the Water Music Society’s mission is to support music education in the local schools.  Every four years, Ilwaco High School Music Director Rachel Lake takes music students to Florida.  In March of 2026, she plans to 100 students.   The concert band and choir will perform at Festival Disney (International festival).  The jazz band, mariachi bands, and percussion ensemble will perform on stage at Universal Studios.  All groups will participate in a backstage workshop where they will record a soundtrack to a movie.   The groups will also participate in a professionally adjudicated competition.   The experiences will undoubtedly be life-changing!

The Ilwaco High School music ensembles will perform, either during the social hour, the intermission, or just before the main event.

Featuring The Brubeck Brothers!!

Some of you attended the Water Music Festival concert last October with Dan Brubeck, drummer, and three additional instrumentalists and you know how fabulous it was. This June concert will be Dan Brubeck on Drums, Chris Brubeck on bass and trombone, plus Chuck Lamb on piano and Mike DeMicco on guitar. And if that is not thrilling enough, they will include a fabulous video which will be interactive with the concert, featuring many interesting clips of Dave Brubeck, and even some past Presidents! Don’t miss this incredibly exciting event and also have the opportunity to support our wonderful music department students!

Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Dan (drums) and Chris (bassist, trombonist, and composer) cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. The Quartet performs at concert series, colleges, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Montreal, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. The Quartet’s last cd, LifeTimes was a hit on the Jazz Week radio chart where it made the Top Ten list as one of the most played jazz recordings of the year.
